Amazon Prime Day 2022 is fast approaching—and we’re here with your Prime Day preview and early deals. During the two-day sales event, we’ll provide you with an updated list of the best Prime Day deals of 2022 on kitchen gear throughout the 48-hour bonanza. After a couple of years of unusual scheduling due to the pandemic, the event will take place, as is traditional, in July. Specifically: Tuesday, July 12 at 12 a.m. P.T. through the the end of day Wednesday, July 13.
Think of Prime Day as summer’s version of Black Friday or Cyber Monday—the deals on electronics, home goods, and (the one we really care about) kitchen deals will be extensive. The one catch? You have to be a Prime member to shop the sales. (If you don’t have a Prime account already, you can sign up for a Prime membership here to get the perks.)
We’ll be covering all the best deals on kitchen gear, home appliances, cleaning tools, and tabletop decor just in time to get your home ready for a summer of houseguests, family, and plenty of outdoor cooking. So check back for our coverage on this shopping event and expect to see a slew of great discounts on editor-vetted products like our favorite blenders, air fryers, pots and pans, and more. But for now here’s the 411 in advance on what Amazon Prime Day is all about and how we plan to cover the event.
What is Amazon Prime Day?
Prime Day is Amazon’s own online shopping “holiday”—and it actually lasts two days, not one. Like all highly anticipated sales events, there’s a lot of secrecy surrounding most of the deals that’ll be available. If past years are any indication, we can expect deep discounts on Instant Pots (Amazon sold upward of 300,000 Instant Pots on Prime Day last year) and hot ticket kitchen products like espresso machines and Dutch ovens. Last year Epi readers particularly loved the deals on Joule Sous Vide machines, cast-iron skillets, and KitchenAid meat grinder attachments.
When is Prime Day?
Usually, the main deals go live at 12 a.m. P.T. on the first day of the event or 3 a.m. E.T.—some of those items will stay on sale the whole event, while others will appear for shorter periods along the way. Throughout the 48 hours Amazon will also drop a series of short and sweet deals available until supplies last. Those are called lightning deals; more on that below.
How to shop Amazon Prime Day 2022
We recommend setting a deal alert for anything you have your eye on during the extravaganza because things can get overwhelming. You can do this via desktop by adding the item to your shopping cart and clicking “save for later.” Amazon will notify you if the price changes. If you want instant notifications, download the Amazon Shopping app. In the app you can also choose “today’s deals” to preview the sales 24 hours before they go live. Prime Day is an especially good time to purchase kitchen appliances like toaster ovens, waffle makers, and blenders. We suggest browsing our product tests and saving any winners that are missing from your kitchen now—the event is known as being particularly great for sales in the home and kitchen department, as well as in the tech category.
How to get “lightning deals” during Amazon Prime Day 2022
We’ll be rounding up the best Amazon Prime Day deals on our favorite kitchen products and updating them throughout the duration of Prime Day. A lot of the sales will be lightning deals, meaning they will only be available for a limited time (usually an hour). Sometimes inventory sells out well before that time period is up. We’ll be checking and editing our stories— every hour on the hour—to make sure that every deal we offer you is as up-to-date as possible. Make sure to check our site throughout the day for the most up-to-date info about what’s on sale for Amazon Prime Day.
What is on sale on Amazon Prime Day?
Amazon devices, like the Echo device we tested in our review of the best kitchen speakers, will likely be on sale for Amazon Prime members. Cleaning gear like Roombas and other robot vacuums tend to be discounted as well, as do tech gadgets like headphones, Apple products, iPads, and smart speakers. And crucially, there are great deals on kitchen appliances during the annual sale.
How we approach Prime Day sales coverage
You won’t see every deal available on Prime Day listed on our site: We will only be featuring products we have either already approved during one of our rigorous product tests or products our editors love using at home. We will also be making sure that the deals are truly deals—this means no reporting fake slashes on inflated prices. Prime Day can be a great way to score on big-ticket items and fun low-risk tools alike, but it can also be overwhelming. We’re hoping by narrowing the field to the best kitchen and kitchen-related products out there, we can help you make smart purchases.
Will there be other retailers hosting sales during Amazon Prime Day?
Yes. Amazon’s competitors are likely to offer steep discounts over the two days of Amazon Prime Day; we’ll look out for these as well. If you tend to look to Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Target, or Sur La Table for kitchen and dining bargains, continue to check back on our site during Amazon Prime Day. We will cross-check who has the best discount on the web—so you can score the very best deal on that Instant Pot you’ve been eyeing.
Early Amazon Prime Day deals
There are a few early deals ahead of this year’s Amazon Prime Day that you can already shop—like one of our favorite cast-iron skillets, blenders, and rice cookers—but we’ll be updating this story with more as they come up. Other retailers are likely to offer early discounts as well. We’ll be checking Walmart for a slew of savings across kitchen, home, and outdoor goods, and also Target, which offered 25% off kitchen and dining room furniture in the lead up to the previous year’s Prime Day.
