Solana Community Meetup Organized in Cebu

A Solana Meetup event, part of the Building BLOKCs series by The BLOKC, was held in Cebu on October 29, 2023. This event, titled Bahay Ni SOL Community Meetup, was the first of its kind in Cebu, aiming to foster an ecosystem of students and professionals dedicated to nation-building and capacity development in the blockchain and web3 sectors.

According to a message sent by enSpace, where the event was held, the meetup brought together a diverse group of attendees, including students, professionals, and young entrepreneurs with a keen interest in Blockchain and web3 technologies.

  • Engr. Raine Laluna, co-founder of Web3 Cebu and sphERA.
  • Elle Chan, Marketing Manager of enSpace Cebu and co-founder of sphERA.
  • Jay Chris Bahandi, a Web developer at Virginia Food Inc.

These speakers shared insights into their involvement in the blockchain space, offering inspiration and guidance to attendees, particularly students and those considering a career shift into the web3 space.

Chan and Bahandi discussed their experiences with enSpace and their respective journeys in the tech community. Chan highlighted enSpace’s role in supporting tech communities in both web2 and web3. Bahandi shared his experiences and opportunities gained through mentorship in the blockchain domain.


The BUILDING BLOKCs initiative is designed to build a community of students and professionals focused on national development and capacity enhancement. This initiative goes beyond meetups, aiming to expand its community in Cebu and strengthen partnerships with local educational institutions like CIT University, STI Cebu, and the Web3 Cebu Community.

Recent Developments and Collaborations

In other news related to The BLOKC, the organization recently announced a partnership with the Arbitrum Foundation to promote the Arbitrum blockchain in the Philippines. This collaboration will feature Developer Bootcamps, community meetups, and hackathons, all aimed at empowering developers and businesses in the decentralized applications (dApps) space.

Achievements in the Blockchain Space

DAOCre-8 has also made headlines by securing fourth place in the DAOS & NETWORK STATES category of the Solana Hyperdrive Hackathon, winning a prize of $10,000 in USDC.

Furthermore, The BLOKC has established partnerships with Lyceum University of the Philippines (LPU) and Mapua University’s School of Information Technology. These collaborations are focused on enhancing blockchain education through internships, faculty training, curriculum development, and hackathons.
