10 Best warm mist humidifiers on the market in 2022

What is the best warm mist humidifier? These devices can be divided into steam humidifiers/vaporizers and ultrasonic humidifiers. Steam humidifiers, such as the Crane EE-5202, boil water to release warm mist into the air. They are equipped with a heating element, a reservoir, and a nozzle. In addition, vaporizers have a dispenser that allows you to use the device with liquid inhalants. Ultrasonic humidifiers create a warm mist through the built-in diaphragm that vibrates at a certain frequency. They are more versatile and can emit not only warm mist or cool mist but also both of them. One of the popular models of this type is the LEVOIT dual humidifier that offers two mist modes. Apart from that, some humidifiers are made with a filter while others come filter-free like the Honeywell Top Fill. The advantage of the latter option is low maintenance as you do not need to replace filters.

If you need a humidifier for large areas — from 1.000 sq. ft. and up — you should buy a more powerful model such as Aprilaire – 800Z and Aprilaire 700 whole-home humidifiers covering 6,200 and 4,200 square feet, respectively.

A warm mist humidifier is a device which produces a sustained mist of warm water vapor in a larger small area, depending on the device. These are almost entirely electrically powered, with a few weaker battery models available, though most are corded electric. These devices survey host of purposes, one of them being medical.

Types of Warm Mist Humidifiers & How They Work

They can be used to combat severe congestion, respiratory issues, and other such things, which is one of their heaviest uses, but they can also be used to aid people who suffer from ailments due to dry, cold air. Many people who first moved to desert areas, or the dryer, colder Pacific Northwestern areas will often seek comfort in a warm mist humidifier to acclimate themselves.

Larger, industrial warmness humidifiers are also used for hydroponic and greenhouse agriculture, providing a stable, moist and warm environment regardless of the climate outside.

Precautions. Warmness humidifiers should not be used by people with chronic bronchitis, as severe humidity can actually agitate this ailment. It also probably shouldn’t be used as an alleviation method for people suffering from lung cancer, or rheumatoid arthritis, as severe humidity can also agitate these. These should not be used around electronics, as condensation can and will ruin the internal mechanisms.

Vicks 1-Gallon Warm Mist Humidifier: photo

The two most popular warm mist humidifiers are of Vicks and Honeywell brands. Both devices are filter-free, which is a clear advantage. The problem with filters is that bacteria and microbes accumulate on them. Moreover, using a filter-free device, you do not have to bother with replacing filters. Vicks and Honeywell humidifiers come with a one-gallon water tank, medicine cups and two output settings (low and high). Besides, they have a feature that turns off the unit automatically when it is empty.

The Honeywell model has one more beneficial feature — a reset light indicator that tells you when to fill the tank. Also, this option is longer-lasting and can operate for up to 24 hours, whereas the Vicks humidifier runs for no more than 12 hours per filling. And finally, the Honeywell humidifier is more compact (11 x 13 inches) and lightweight (4 pounds) than the Vicks model.

Honeywell also offers a cool mist humidifier as an alternative for those who cannot use warm mist models. It costs twice as much and uses evaporative technology. This device is germ-free and kills almost all bacteria in the room. Unlike the above-mentioned humidifiers, this one is equipped with a wicking filter.

Aprilaire - 800Z 800 Whole Home Steam Humidifier: photo

This is a trustworthy brand that has been producing award-winning whole-house humidifiers, dehumidifiers, airs purifiers, and thermostats for decades. Kaylee Ellen: “This humidifier is called the LEVOIT LV 6000. There are a couple of other models but this one I went for because of its large capacity tank. the capacity on this thing is 6 liters that’s quite a bit. I would say at the moment I’m replacing the water maybe a little bit less than each week given the fact that my heating is on constantly. Personally I don’t want to be filling this thing up all the time. That was the whole idea of me spending a little bit more money on a humidifier was that it kind of did my job for me. I don’t have to worry about the humidity in my room or any of my plants that really need humidity. I don’t really need the remote but it is handy if you want to use this in a bedroom and you’re in bed and you want to turn the humidifier off at night. On the remote it has a button to turn off just the display which I think is super useful if you’re one of these people you know you want your humidifier on in your room at night but you can’t stand looking at the LED display.

I personally find this humidifier very quiet. I do find that the warm mist is a little bit noisier than the cold mist but nothing that would affect anything. You might think well who cares if it’s more hot or cold mist. But I find that calathea obviously being in the rain forest or any tropical plant that requires a lot of humidity they obviously want warm temperatures and I find this is actually an extra way to help just recreate those levels of both humidity and temperature. I just find that the cliffthea really love it when it’s kicking out warm mist onto them rather than cold mist. It’s just that a little bit of extra care. In addition to that if you’re using this for yourself and not just for your plants if you are kind of unwell and you have a cold or whatever have you this is really really good because you get hot mist instead of cold. So it just helps clear the air ways a little bit better. I have actually tested that when I had a call while ago and I did find that it helped.

You can put essential oils on the little tray and use it as an actual aroma diffuser as well which is super awesome. And if you have a cold it’s great to put some eucalyptus drops in here then just sort of sit next to the humidifier and just take it in. I wouldn’t say the scent on that is super super strong and that’s because the capacity of this thing is so huge. If you are wanting some sort of humidifier to use I guess as more of an aroma diffuser go with one with a smaller tank on it because the smaller the tank the stronger the smell that you’re going to get from that. If you’re having terrible skin problems if you get a humidifier and just run it and just monitor the humidity in the room set it like sixty percent you will notice the difference in your skin in a couple of days. And I mean that you won’t have to work as hard to keep your skin hydrated. It will just naturally be more hydrated you will notice a huge difference.

And just in case you thought it couldn’t get any better it actually gets a lot better because there is a nozzle on the top and it’s a 360 degree nozzle. It’s got two kind of rotating parts to it there’s an outer ring that is a little bit wider than the inner ring. I actually have it in the middle of like two clusters of plants so I point the larger nozzle in that direction because the plant is further away from the humidifier so I give it extra mist and then I put the other nozzle in this direction and I give it to the other side of the room. That is absolutely amazing. There’s nothing that says you have to go out and spend loads of money on a humidifier like this but honestly you get everything you pay for. You get if you’re looking for peace of mind something you don’t have to pay any attention to and your work is just done for you get this. It’s fantastic. I seriously think it is the best humidifier you can get for your plants.”

6 Months Later Reviews: “I myself had not had that many experiences with humidifiers before in the past. Until one day I changed my mind and eventually purchased one. Now I’ve had experiences before with devices like vaporizers but haven’t been really big fans of those because if I’m sick and I’m needing to put moisture into the air I’d rather have a cool mist than a hot mist or warm mist. So getting another vaporizer for me was out and I didn’t go the filterless route for humidifiers because I’ve read that oftentimes they can spew dust into the environment and they don’t have a filter so I’d rather have all the water being put into the environment going through a filter making sure all the impurities and everything are taken out. So that’s what led me to the category of humidifiers that I landed on with my Honeywell Cool Mist humidifier.

It’s really easy to set up out of the box, the water tank it comes with is easy to fill, and it has a nice seal on it so it’s not going to leak or anything like that. Now one thing that really liked about the Honeywell humidifier was how quiet it was, I was kind of shocked. On the lowest setting you could barely hear if the thing is on at all. On the highest setting it’s not really that loud it sounds like muffled airplane like 20 miles away. Now after 6 months of use, I can say that everything with the Honeywell cool mist humidifier has worked out great. My only complaint with the humidifier is actually with the filter that Honeywell gives you to start off with. The filter itself is kind of thin and it ran out really really quickly. One tip I came across in some Amazon reviews is to make the filters last longer every one to two weeks go into the humidifier and flip the filter. What this does is it allows the water that the filter pulls up and then the fan helps evaporate what it does is it evenly disperses the water throughout the filter more if you’re flipping it more constantly making the filter last longer.

Now after six months of use, I can say that I was been taken aback at how much of a difference this humidifier has actually made in my life. It’s a device that I really can’t see myself living without anymore, which kind of surprised me. So, if you’re looking for a way to keep your home more comfortable during the winter months, breathe easier at night, keep down dust and allergens in the air, and have a device that helps soothe sore throats and colds, you’re definitely going to want to take a look at getting a humidifier. And I do highly recommend the cool mist humidifier from Honeywell. It’s a great device, it’s well-made, well-built, and it should last you a very long time.”
