TECH BYTE: Gadgets to Celebrate July 4

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Fourth of July holiday weekend is here!

There’s a lot of cool tech that can help you make the most of the holiday – like a travel bundle power kit.

You’ll never have a dead battery with it.

“I personally have this bundle package,” said Laurie Starcher, AT&T. “It goes with me whenever I travel, and it’s because it has everything you need, whether it be an extra battery charger, a plug in. You may even have one of those older plug ins that you’re like, ‘Oh, you know who has that at their house?’ Well, this bundle package actually has it. So it’s a really great, you know, little zip up package, easy to store. Leave it in your car, put it in your suitcase wherever you go, because it is going to be able to help you out.”

When it comes to charging your devices, Starcher also recommends a water bottle that does just that.

“You can screw it right off, comes off so easily, and you can charge your device right on it,” she said. “It’s a wireless charger. It is so convenient. I’m thinking to myself, my kids will be in the trunk tailgating, watching the fireworks happen. This is an easy way to make sure you’re hydrated, but also make sure that everything gets charged up for, you know, all those pictures that we want to take this year.”

Starcher says some waterproof Bluetooth speakers are also good to have.

“So JBL has them, and we’ve got lots of other brands in our locations, but there is nothing better than grabbing that speaker, putting your music on Bluetooth really easily. It has awesome sound,” Starcher said. “The one thing is if the kids are running through the sprinklers, if you’re putting it on the boat, it doesn’t matter. It’s waterproof, so you can take it on the go.”

Having the best screen protector and case for your phone or other devices keeps them lasting longer if you drop it.

Starcher says you can even get a great deal on the AT&T branded ones that are tempered glass.

“If they do crack, or if for some reason something happens to it, you can actually go into our locations, replace it for only $8. So it’s a really easy and effective way to maintain those screen protectors. A lot of times they’re pretty expensive, because they are top of the line.”

As for phone cases, there are plenty of good brands to choose from to both protect and personalize your phone – like Otterbox and Case-Mate.

“We have lots of different options from, you know, slimmer ones,” Starcher said. “I know a lot of people like their slimmer cases, but still cases that have eight feet, 10 feet of drop proof. So that way, if for any reason you do drop your device, the absorption will still protect it.”

You can find all of these products at your nearest AT&T store, or online here.
