Texas Tech men’s head basketball mentor Mark Adams has stepped down from his part, the university announced on Wednesday, times following he was suspended for what the university identified as an “inappropriate, unacceptable, and racially insensitive comment.”

Texas Tech director of athletics Kirby Hocutt established that the comment was “accidental and an isolated incident,” and Adams apologized to the staff promptly following the comment, the school’s press release reads.

In Wednesday’s assertion, Adams stated his “lifelong purpose was to support and be a good impact on my players, and to be a part of the Texas Tech men’s basketball staff.”
