Pregnancy Issues & Solution

Ques: I just don’t feel right?

During Pregnancy, the body changes very rapidly that it’s sometimes difficult to know whether what you’re experiencing is normal or if it’s something to worry about.

If you are unsure about any symptoms, call your doctor.

There is nothing wrong to seek a doctor’s advice & doctors expect to get calls like these. If there’s a

problem, you’ll get help right away. If nothing’s wrong, you’ll go home reassured

Ques: Pain in the Middle or Upper stomach?

Pain with or without nausea or vomiting could be because of:

  1. Severe indigestion
  2. Acidity or heartburn
  3. A stomach bug
  4. Food poisoning

Ques: What if I feel like ‘Fainting’/’dizziness’?

Major reasons could be due to not eaten well for that day or Low blood pressure, which is common in early pregnancy.

Many women feel dizzy during pregnancy. You must see your doctor if you faint & giddy.

Ques: I have vaginal bleeding?

Although spotting or light bleeding without pain is common in early pregnancy, it usually resolves itself, do not miss consulting with your doctor if you bleed at any stage.

It may indicate a serious complication if:

  1. There is severe, persistent, one-sided pain in your tummy combined with bleeding.
  2. Bleeding is different from the normal period.
  3. Sudden, painless bleeding.
  4. Heavy bleeding, combined with persistent back pain or abdominal pain.
  5. Fresh or dark bleeding with or without clots in later pregnancy.
  6. In the later stages of pregnancy heavy bleeding is uncommon.

Ques: I have a severe headache that won’t go away?

If a bad headache lasts for more than 2-3 hours, and you have visual disturbances and severe swelling in your body are signs of pre-eclampsia, which usually happens during the second half of your pregnancy or soon after your baby is born.

Ques: I itch all over?

Mild itching could be the result of stretching of the skin; try not to worry

Any intense itching needs to get checked. This is especially the case if the itching is worse at night and centres on the soles of your feet and the palms of your hands.

Ques: I’m constantly vomiting?

  1. Vomiting a few times a day is common & is unlikely to hurt your baby but could dehydrate & weaken you. Even then, speak to your doctor about it.
  2. If you’re vomiting during the second half of your pregnancy, you may also have severe pain just below the ribs, and sudden severe swelling in your face, hands, or feet.
  3. Vomiting accompanied by diarrhoea could be a sign of food poisoning or a stomach bug.
  4. If you’re vomiting, feverish and have pain in your side, lower back, or around your genitals, could be signs of kidney infection. If you have these symptoms you should contact your doctor.

Ques: My vision is blurred and I see flashing spots?

Call your doctor right away if, in the second half of your pregnancy, your eyesight is affected by:

  1. Double vision
  2. Blurring
  3. Dimming
  4. Flashing spots or lights before your eyes

Ques: My hands and feet are swollen

Swelling or puffiness in your hands, face & eyes is common in late pregnancy is not a cause for concern in most cases.

But if your swelling is severe or comes on suddenly, along with a headache or problems with your vision, call your doctor straight away.

  1. You pass cloudy, bloody, or smelly urine.
  2. Have nausea, tiredness, and cold sweats.
  3. Feel achy all over or have pain in your lower abdomen
  4. Hurting or burning sensation when passing urine
  5. Frequent urge to pass urine, even if you’ve only just been.

Ques: I’m suddenly really thirsty?

If you’re suddenly thirsty & your urine is dark yellow, it could be a sign of dehydration. You need to drink more fluid when you’re pregnant.

If you’re thirsty and peeing a lot more than usual it could be a sign of gestational diabetes, although this often doesn’t cause symptoms.

Ques: I’m leaking fluid from my vagina?

If you are leaking fluid from your vagina before 37 weeks, contact your doctor so she can check on your baby’s health. You may need treatment if there are signs of an infection.
