Texas Tech football coach Joey McGuire disputed Ole Overlook coach Lane Kiffin’s postgame comments accusing a Red Raiders participant of spitting at and employing a racial slur towards a Rebels participant in Wednesday’s Texas Bowl.
“We are unhappy an opposing head mentor decided to insinuate really serious allegations that are phony and irresponsible,” McGuire said, by way of The Athletic’s Matt Fortuna. “I have talked over these allegations with Dimitri Moore, and he disputed the two statements that were brought forth from him.”
Kiffin claimed the incident happened through a fourth-quarter scuffle after Ole Miss out on receiver Dayton Wade fumbled and Texas Tech recovered. Rebels receiver Jordan Watkins acquired a particular foul penalty primarily based on the condition, but Kiffin considered Texas Tech linebacker Dimitri Moore deserved the penalty for allegedly spitting and yelling a racial slur towards Ole Skip offensive tackle Jayden Williams.
Both of those Moore and Williams are Black.
Kiffin claimed he didn’t know what slur was applied in the dispute.
Moore spoke to reporters on Thursday and reiterated McGuire’s feedback that the statements are fake.
“I just cannot condition strongly sufficient that these accusations are false,” Moore reported. “It is disappointing to have my ultimate recreation as a collegiate scholar-athlete overshadowed by the false accusations that had been said previous evening. Due to the fact I have arrived at Texas Tech, I have strived to depict my teammates, this coaching staff members and most importantly, my relatives, in the best way.”
