Operate crews have fastened a ability outage at New York’s John F. Kennedy Global Airport that forced some flights to be canceled or diverted, officers said Saturday.

The outage started Thursday when an electrical panel failure triggered a little fire, authorities mentioned. Dozens of flights ended up canceled and some ended up diverted to other airports. An Air New Zealand flight was compelled to return to Auckland immediately after traveling two-thirds of the way across the Pacific Ocean, resulting in a 16-hour trip that finished where by it commenced.

“I believed it was a terrible Ambien dream,” reported passenger Rosemary Armao, an adjunct journalism professor who was sleeping when her pal awoke her to say the plane was heading back again to Auckland.
