For a device marketed as the “Multi-device Machine for Hackers”, the Flipper Zero by now features a significant list of onboard abilities. But some tough conclusions had to be manufactured to get the retail price tag down, so attributes like WiFi and Bluetooth experienced to be still left off. The good news is, there is an enlargement interface along the best of the gadget which makes it possible to plug in more hardware.
A single of those expansions is the “Mayhem Hat” from [Erwin Ried]. This board adds lots of requested capabilities to the Flipper Zero, as properly as some that might not appear to be as evident. The addition of an ESP32-CAM brings WiFi and Bluetooth to the party, while also unlocking access to the very-able ESP32Marauder firmware and the myriad of safety study applications therein.
But the digital camera also allows some intriguing functions, such as motion detection and the capability to read through QR codes. It even lets you use the Flipper as an impromptu digital camera, finish with an onscreen viewfinder reminiscent of the Recreation Boy Digicam.
What’s a lot more, the Mayhem Hat capabilities its have growth abilities. There’s a location to plug in possibly a CC1101 or NRF24l01 radio module, both equally of which are supported by group developed plugins that allow for the consumer to sniff out and hijack indicators. There are also extra pins for connecting your own sensors or components. In the demo video beneath you can see the device instantly detect the common DHT11 environmental sensor and exhibit the existing temperature and humidity readings.
[Erwin] has the Mayhem Hat up for sale on Tindie, but as of this composing, is currently out of stock. Evidently, need for the increase-on boards is just as large as for the Flipper Zero by itself — not a large shock, given the exhilaration we noticed all-around this system during its $4.8 million Kickstarter campaign.
