AI to improve the cellular performance and coverage of 5G smartphone

What is artificial intelligence?

Artificial Intelligence is the simulation of the human intelligence process by machines. It is also a way of helping computers to learn from large datasets, also known as machine learning. AI focuses on three main skills: learning, reasoning, and self-correction. It lets computers acquire information in a way a human does without being programmed.

What is 5G?

5G stands for 5th generation cellular wireless. This technology consists of two technologies working in parallel, namely a wireless sub-6HZ signal, which can travel tens of kilometers at hundreds of megabits per second. There are three basic types of 5G service: low-band, mid-band, and high-band, which are incompatible and perform differently.

What role does AI play on 5G networks?

Adopting the 5G networks industry has faced many complexities, and the one way the industry addresses those complexities is by integrating AI into networks. AI’s primary focus is reducing capital expenditures, optimizing network performance, and building new revenue streams. Advancements in AI can help improve 5G system performance and efficiency. AI is already being used to enhance customer experience and improve customer service by improving the network quality, which is beneficial to the overall 5G system.

How has AI improved the cellular performance and coverage of 5G smartphones?

AI plays an important role in 5G networks. 5G networks consume far more power than desired and achieve lower data rates than expected, so replacing traditional algorithms with AI will automatically reduce power consumption and improve cellular performance. 5G networks are 20 times faster than 4G network; it offers more than just speed. It allows users to create real-time video transmissions for events or security purposes. It also allows remote detection of farmer irrigation, and doctors could securely and easily access patient data. All these opportunities will require AI to make them functional. AI allows 5G networks to be predictive and proactive, essential for the 5G network to be fully functional. AI allows 5G to connect through multiple devices and generate massive data. AI provides dynamic network slicing to address different scenarios with varying quality of services. The advancement of AI is making 5G better by elevating the level of performance, more efficient resource utilization, personalized security and privacy, and improved system performance.

AI has also enabled intelligent 5G network management, which has

Enhanced service quality: Better mobility management, user localization, and user behavior and demand prediction.

Higher Network Efficiency: More efficient scheduling, radio resource utilization.

Improved Network Security: More effective detection and defense against malicious attacks by analyzing a massive quantity of data.
